On May 20, 2011, Virginia federal judge Leonie M. Brinkema ruled that Finnegan’s client United Technologies Corporation’s (“UTC”), “jet engines do not infringe Rolls-Royce PLC’s patent, finding the patent disclosed a fan blade that has only three sweep regions to UTC’s four.” The technology at issue relates to the design of fans in turbine engines. UTC is represented by Finnegan in this matter.
