WASHINGTON, DC - On June 25, 2010, Chief Judge Randall R. Rader, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and Chief Judge William P. Greene, United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims recognized the pro bono contributions of five lawyers by awarding them the Pro Bono Leadership Award. Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner attorney Ron Smith was one of the recipients of the prestigious honor. The award reflects important contributions to pro bono service over a continuing period both within the Federal Circuit community and elsewhere. These efforts include the development of veterans and government personnel pro bono programs and the direct provision of pro bono services in each of these areas.
In addition to Ron’s achievement, three other Finnegan attorneys active in the Federal Circuit practice community were recognized for their pro bono contributions: Virginia Carron, John Livingstone, and Robert Stanley.
The Federal Circuit Charitable and Educational Fund supports scholarships for academically strong and needy law students, a variety of continuing legal education programs, and other activities supportive of the Federal Circuit community and its practitioners. One of the Fund’s most active outreach programs is providing educational backdrops to participating practitioners for pro bono representation in veterans and government personnel appellate litigation.
