On October 24, 2011 Finnegan client Schweitzer-Mauduit International Inc. announced they had reached a $20 million licensing agreement with Delfortgroup AG, as part of a settlement ending its suit at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) claiming infringement of two patents for self-extinguishing cigarette paper. The agreement gives Schweitzer-Mauduit an annual minimum royalty of $4 million a year for five years beginning in 2011, other running royalties, and an undisclosed amount to settle the claims.
