WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan was recognized as "Global Law Firm of the Year" at IP Era Magazine’s 2016 Global IP Awards on November 10, 2016, held in Mumbai. The India-based publication hosts the prestigious Global IP Awards to recognize top intellectual property professionals, teams, and law firms for their achievements. Nominees were reviewed and analyzed by a jury comprised of global IP professionals. Winners were then selected based on market analysis, industry reviews, and peer voting.
Finnegan partner Anand K. Sharma noted, "This award is significant as India is an important market for the firm. Finnegan assists several Indian companies with IP issues ranging from U.S. litigation, patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution, due diligence and freedom-to-operate opinion matters, to development of strategies for monetizing IP assets, licensing negotiations, and drafting of license agreements." Finnegan partner Raj Gupta added, “With the increased IP creation in India and the market penetration Indian multi-national companies seek in the United States and Europe, strategic counseling on IP matters can play a key role in advancing corporate business goals.”
Since January 2015, Finnegan has filed more than 550 patent applications and responded to nearly 200 office actions in the United States and Europe on behalf of some of India’s top technology companies, many with innovations related to software, cloud computing, smart energy, and telecommunications.
