Fed. Circ. to Rehear Akamai Joint Infringement Case

April 21, 2011

Law360

The Federal Circuit has granted Akamai Technologies Inc.’s petition for an en banc rehearing of their case against Limelight Networks, Inc.  Akamai is looking to reinstate the $45.5 million patent verdict against Limelight for patent infringement.  The case between Akamai and Limelight Networks addresses what kind of relationship between parties constitutes joint infringement.  “It’s really an important issue, and it needs to be decided by the full court,” said Donald Dunner, partner at Finnegan and attorney for Akamai, “rather than just individual panels of the court.”
