On April 8, the Federal Circuit upheld a lower court's July decision, ruling in favor of Finnegan client AbbVie and invalidating a Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology Trust arthritis treatment patent. As a result, AbbVie will not have to pay four years of licensing royalties for its top-selling anti-inflammatory drug Humira.
