Chief Administrative Law Judge Paul J. Luckern at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled that Eastman Kodak’s ‘218 patent on capturing, compressing, and storing digital images is invalid due to obviousness. Kodak filed suit at the ITC in early 2010 against Apple and Finnegan client Research In Motion (RIM). Judge Paul J. Luckern’s initial determination on Monday found no violation of the Tariff Act by Apple and RIM and concluded that Kodak failed to show that Apple and RIM committed infringement.
