Finnegan Attorney Mareesa Frederick Named to Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows Program

WASHINGTON, DC — Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP is proud to announce that Mareesa A. Frederick has been selected for the 2014 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). LCLD is a national organization made up of the legal profession’s top general counsel and law firm managing partners.

“This is a wonderful honor for Mareesa,” said Finnegan managing partner James B. Monroe. “We are proud to have her chosen for this prestigious program which provides an opportunity to hone her leadership skills while promoting diversity in the legal profession.” Sanya Sukduang, Finnegan’s partner-in-charge of diversity, added, “At Finnegan, we don’t just value diversity, we live it every day in our approach to the projects we handle, the clients we serve, and the attorneys we hire. We are particularly pleased that Mareesa has been selected to join and work with this impressive group of individuals on the forefront of improving diversity in the legal profession.”

As of counsel in Finnegan’s Washington, DC office, Ms. Frederick focuses her practice on client counseling, opinion work, and patent and other intellectual property litigation. She joins a class of more than 170 attorneys from around the country who have been selected as LCLD Fellows for 2014—the largest class in the program’s history.

Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows program’s mission is to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the course of the year-long program, participants will be challenged to improve their professional brand, build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.

“Our Fellows program is a unique learning experience designed to empower a new generation of lawyers,” said Brad Smith, LCLD Chair and Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Microsoft Corporation. “These talented individuals have been singled out for leadership by their organizations, and represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds.”
