Fed. Circ. Won't Rehear Nokia-InterDigital 3G Patent Spat

January 10, 2013

Law360

On Thursday, January 10, the Federal Circuit denied a rehearing bid by Nokia Corp., “ruling that InterDigital has satisfied the Tariff Act’s domestic industry requirements by offering licenses in the United Sates for use of its cellular technology patents.” InterDigital spokesman Patrick Van de Wille said, “The decision today is a very positive one for us. It shows that research and development, and the ability to license the IP that comes out of that research and development, is an important industry in the United States.” Finnegan represented InterDigital in this matter.
