AbbVie Wins Another Ruling for Anti-inflammatory Drug Humira

July 9, 2014

Law360

On July 9, a New York federal court ruled in favor of AbbVie Inc., citing that the patent claims held by the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology Trust for the anti-inflammatory drug Humira were invalid. As a result, AbbVie does not have to pay royalties for the patents. This is the second victory for the biopharmaceutical company where patent claims for Humira held by a third party Institute were declared invalid.
