Sydney Kestle focuses on several areas of patent law, including pre-litigation due diligence, client counseling, litigation in U.S. district courts, proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, where she clerked. Her patent practice covers several technology sectors in the mechanical and electrical arts, including industrial manufacturing, medical devices, and wireless communications and related consumer products. Sydney currently serves as co-lead of Finnegan FORWARD.

Sydney has an undergraduate degree in bioengineering, with a focus in biomechanics tissue engineering and material science. Her research focused on developing tissue-engineered constructs to combat cartilage degeneration in the knee. Sydney also has general experience with medical devices and related electrical components.

Sydney maintains a pro bono practice, assisting with veterans' affairs and serving as a guardian ad litem in custody disputes.

Successfully defended against a motion for preliminary injunction that would have excluded the accused synthetic slab products out of the U.S. market. Filed concurrent inter partes reviews (IPRs) and post-grant reviews (PGRs) challenging the asserted patents, leading to a settlement that leaves the U.S. market open to Cosentino’s industry-leading Silestone products.
