Michelle Rice focuses on complex patent litigation, drawing insights from two federal court clerkships and extensive patent prosecution experience. She is passionate about intellectual property (IP) protection for each client, large or small, while appreciating the role IP strategy plays in serving overall business goals. Michelle enjoys learning about clients’ innovations and crafting strategies for how to best protect them.

Michelle’s litigation experience ranges from Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and cases filed in district court to post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She works on prosecution and litigation matters involving a wide range of technologies, including electronics, telecommunications, software, semiconductors, data processing, and business methods.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Michelle interned at Microsoft (China), where she assisted in Chinese IP policy analysis as well as discussions with Chinese government agencies regarding the latest developments in IP regulations. She also interned in Beijing at a Chinese law firm and an international law firm. She assisted in trademark prosecution and enforcement, and pre-litigation investigations.
