Guanshi Li is a registered patent attorney and professional engineer who advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law, with a focus on complex technologies in the mechanical and electrical fields. He counsels clients through the entire patent lifecycle from strategic portfolio development and management to prosecution, litigation, and post-grant proceedings.
Guanshi has represented clients in district court litigations, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and reexaminations; and has advised on freedom-to-operate (FTO) studies, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, due diligence, IP strategies for mergers and acquisitions, global patent portfolio prosecution and management, as well as trade secret litigations in district courts. Guanshi’s practice also includes supervising large international portfolios and coordinating multi-jurisdictional filings, where he regularly works with foreign counsel and patent offices worldwide.
Guanshi has prosecuted both utility and design patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including automotive systems; medical devices; robotics; energy systems; logistics and warehouse management systems; manufacturing automation systems; semiconductor fabrication; e-commerce technologies; consumer electronics; toys; fashion and lifestyle products; and packaging and dispensing technologies, all while guiding clients from initial invention disclosure through allowance and enforcement.
Before entering the legal profession, Guanshi spent nearly a decade on the frontiers of technology innovation and product development. A named inventor himself, he approaches legal challenges with an engineer’s mindset—grounded in practicality and technical insight. His industrial experience spans the automotive, medical device, and consumer goods sectors, with particular expertise in thermo-fluid systems; sensors and controls; robotics; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration; and household appliance technologies. Guanshi’s prior roles collaborating directly with engineers and executives give him a rare perspective on how businesses develop, protect, and leverage technological innovations. This dual experience allows him to bridge the gap between engineering and law, providing clients with pragmatic, technically sophisticated IP strategies.
