In 2020, Finnegan was one of the top firms for Patent Trial and Appeal Board cases. The firm handled 122 PTAB trials in 2020. Joshua Goldberg, leader of Finnegan’s PTAB Trials section, said the firm’s technical expertise contributes to its success at the PTAB. He said, “We have a large number of attorneys who have not just done 10 or 20 proceedings but have done scores and even hundreds of proceedings. So when [clients] want that true expertise, we can make that available.”
