Strategies for Protecting Artificial Intelligence Intellectual Property in U.S.

June 2019

Faren Magazine

The 8th annual China Corporate Legal Affairs Conference was held on May 11, 2019 in Beijing. The conference included nearly 150 Chinese in-house corporate counsel discussing artificial intelligence (AI). Finnegan partners Dr. Frank DeCosta, John Mulcahy, and Dr. Yanbin Xu attended the conferences and were interviewed by Faren Magazine, the sole monthly news publication in the field of financial law in China.

The interview summarized current AI developments, and Frank, John, and Yanbin discussed strategies for protecting artificial intelligence intellectual property in the U.S., specifically as it relates to trade secrets and patents. The article also shared the attorneys’ advice on how companies can prepare for AI protection through their marketing, research and development, and legal departments.
