R. Bruce Bower Named Managing Partner of Finnegan’s Atlanta Office

ATLANTA, GA - Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world’s largest intellectual property firms, announced that R. Bruce Bower has been named managing partner of the firm’s Atlanta office, effective February 1, 2011.  Mr. Bower succeeds Roger D. Taylor, who has served in the position since 1999.

Mr. Taylor is a founding member of the Atlanta office, which currently has more than 30 attorneys in residence.  "Atlanta is home to some of the world’s most innovative and pioneering companies,” remarked Mr. Taylor.  “When we opened it in 1997, we knew that an office in the region would be a perfect fit for Finnegan, and I’ve been delighted to watch it grow and succeed.  I look forward to continuing my IP litigation practice while seeing our success continue under Bruce’s stewardship.”

Mr. Bower has been a member of the Atlanta office since its inception and currently serves on the firm’s Management Committee.  He helps companies with complex patent issues in all areas of the practice, including litigation, strategic counseling, prosecution, and licensing.  Most recently, he has served as lead counsel in litigations involving electrical cables and has successfully used inter partes reexamination to defeat patent claims asserted in litigation against Fridge Pack beverage cartons sold by Coca-Cola and other companies.

“The technology industry in the Southeast continues to expand, and our Atlanta office is uniquely situated to serve the industry’s growing IP needs both regionally and beyond,” said Mr. Bower.  “Not only do we have attorneys deeply integrated within the local legal community, but we have others who have run the firm’s international offices in Brussels, Tokyo, and Taipei.  With the broad range of experience and talent in our Atlanta office, and with the foundation Roger has laid, I look forward to our continued growth and success in providing the highest quality IP services to our clients.”
