Judge Says CMI Can't Invalidate Asetek Cooling Patents

April 22, 2015

Law360

On April 21, a California judge ruled in favor of Finnegan client Asetek, deciding that two of their patents weren’t invalid for obviousness. In 2013, Asetek filed suit against CMI USA Inc. accusing CMI’s liquid cooling system for computers of infringing two Asetek patents. CMI claimed that the patents were obvious based on prior art and therefore invalid. In December 2014, a jury found that CMI’s cooling system infringed one of the patents and awarded nearly $405,000 in damages to Asetek.
