The Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) ruled in favor of Finnegan’s client Google, invalidating four claims in a Uniloc 2017 LLC patent. The patent in question covers an authentication method using sound waves. The board rejected Uniloc’s arguments, finding that the claims were obvious. The board’s decision marks another ruling in a string of challenges to Uniloc’s patents, thus making this decision Google’s fourth win since July 2021.
