Finnegan Trademark Partner Doug Rettew Named a 2017 Acritas Star™

February 17, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 17, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan partner Douglas A. Rettew was identified as a 2017 Acritas Star™ based on a survey of nearly 4,000 general counsel and other senior leaders at legal departments around the world. Participants were asked by Acritas Research, Ltd. to name exemplary outside counsel with whom they had worked, and to describe the particular characteristics that qualified these individuals to be outstanding, or "Star Lawyers." Acritas Stars are identified as their clients’ go-to advisor on legal matters. They have a comprehensive understanding of their client’s business and industry; they respond quickly to requests and adhere to deadlines; and they build strong, long-lasting relationships.

Mr. Rettew leads Finnegan’s trademark and copyright practice, which is renowned for its extensive experience in every facet of trademark protection for virtually every type of product and service. A source quoted in the Acritas Stars Database and Report points out that Mr. Rettew "takes the time to actually ask” about what matters to clients, and he is “particularly creative and good at trying to work out all possible angles to address those problems." Another source said, "[He] takes a genuine interest in what we’re doing and what we’re trying to achieve and what really matters for us. [He is] willing to provide advice and assistance that helps makes that happen, rather than just providing generic advice that sounds lovely, may be technically correct, but isn’t actually that useful."
