Esther Lim was appointed as Finnegan’s first partner and chief diversity and inclusion officer. The National Law Journal interviewed Esther to discuss her new role and goals for the position. Esther will coordinate thought leadership, strategy, and the implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and initiatives, working closely with management and the firm’s partner-in-charge of DEI. Her immediate goal is to use her experience working with and mentoring individuals from diverse backgrounds to help recruit, retain, and promote diverse lawyers and meet DEI objectives internally and externally. Finnegan managing partner Anand Sharma stated that in addition to the rotating diversity partner-in-charge leadership position, “We wanted to have a more consistent presence.”
