Finnegan Takes Home Top Honors in Six Categories at Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Americas Awards

March 16, 2018

Managing Intellectual Property

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 16, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC—On March 15, 2018, Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) held its annual IP Americas Awards ceremony, where Finnegan further solidified its position as a top IP law firm by taking home several “Firm of the Year” awards. Wins included U.S.—Specialty IP Firm of the Year; Patent Contentious: Northeast Firm of the Year; U.S.—International Trade Commission (ITC) Firm of the Year; and U.S.—Trade Mark Contentious Firm of the Year. Partner Charles E. Lipsey received the award for Outstanding Litigator—Virginia.

The firm also captured the “Milestone Case of the Year” award for its representation of Aqua Products in Aqua Products, Inc. v. Matal. This was a seminal case that resulted in an en banc Federal Circuit ruling that petitioners challenging the validity of a patent in post-grant proceedings carry the burden of showing that proposed amendments are unpatentable.

"We take great pride in our role as the leading IP firm. Our clients look to us to serve as champions for their ideas and IP and to defend these important assets in the district courts, on appeal, at the PTAB, and at the ITC," said Finnegan’s managing partner Mark Sweet.

The awards capped off Finnegan’s recent recognition in MIP’s 2018 rankings, in which the firm ranked in every possible category.
