Finnegan’s Don Dunner Named a 2016 Intellectual Property Trailblazer by National Law Journal

May 31, 2016

The National Law Journal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 31, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC—The National Law Journal has named Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP partner Donald R. Dunner to its second annual list of “Intellectual Property Trailblazers.” The award recognizes top attorneys whose achievements and unwavering dedication to the field have influenced the practice of intellectual property law.

Mr. Dunner, who is regarded as the “honorary dean of the patent bar,” has worked across all phases of patent law, including prosecution, licensing, litigation, validity and infringement studies, and counseling. Mr. Dunner has had significant success overturning verdicts handed down by lower district courts, and has earned the reputation of being one of the finest litigators in the country. Having litigated numerous cases in federal district courts, Mr. Dunner is best known for his appellate practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which he helped establish. In speaking to one of his most notable achievements, Dunner said, “When the court was formed, I was named chair of the Advisory Board for the first 10 years. It’s been a significant part of my life. I’ve argued more than 180 appeals in front of that court and its predecessor court, the U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals (CCPA).”

In addition to maintaining an active practice, Mr. Dunner serves as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University School of Law, teaching a course on Federal Circuit practice.
