Finnegan Remains a Hall of Fame “Best Law Firm for Women”

June 24, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC—For the 11th consecutive year, Finnegan is recognized as one of Seramount’s (formerly Working Mother) Best Law Firms for Women. The list highlights law firms that averaged 25 percent women among equity partners, compared with 23 percent last year, and where women represented 40 percent of all lawyers overall (up from 39 percent in 2020).

“We are honored Seramount continues to recognize our dedication to gender equity and the programs and initiatives we have put in place to ensure fair treatment and opportunities at the firm,” said managing partner Anand Sharma. “We are particularly pleased to be recognized as the top firm for our external programs focused on support for women’s advancement, including our diversity secondments, participation in the Mansfield Rule, sponsorship of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

Finnegan FORWARD (Focused on Raising Women’s Advancement, Representation, and Development) drives key initiatives addressing issues impacting female attorneys in intellectual property. These include enhancing marketing and recruiting efforts to retain high-performing women; identifying business development opportunities for our female attorneys; offering strategies to overcome the challenges of developing a book of business; providing education and training for our women attorneys; and supporting their leadership interests.

Mareesa Frederick, partner-in-charge of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, noted, “Finnegan has long recognized the importance of supporting women in the workplace, and our success as a firm reflects these efforts. When we are offered opportunities to excel and see ourselves represented in leadership, we create a downstream effect for the next generation of women lawyers who see a space for themselves at the firm.”
