Press Release

Finnegan Recognized as a “Most Feared” Firm for Litigation

October 5, 2020

BTI Litigation Outlook

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 5, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC—BTI Consulting Group released its 2021 Litigation Outlook Report, recognizing Finnegan as a leading firm for intellectual property litigation and as one of the “most feared law firms” in litigation. The report analyzes litigation trends, including changes because of the pandemic in 2020, to help practitioners take advantage of opportunities and prepare for client pain points. The results are based on 240 in-depth interviews with top legal decision makers managing litigation.

Finnegan’s litigation practice covers all aspects of IP disputes, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights. The firm’s 230+ litigators have technical degrees in virtually every field and experience in bench and jury trials, and the scope of talent includes more than a dozen former district court or trial judge law clerks and over 40 former Federal Circuit or U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals (the predecessor to the Federal Circuit) law clerks. Finnegan’s attorneys have successfully litigated hundreds of cases involving the most technologically advanced and complex patents, as well as global trademark issues and trade secret misappropriations, in nearly all federal district courts, numerous state courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. The firm’s attorneys also consistently appear before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). In the last five years alone, Finnegan has been involved in more than 900 district court cases, more than 45 ITC proceedings, more than 300 appeals in circuit courts (most commonly at the Federal Circuit), often resulting in precedential wins that change the course of IP law.
