Finnegan is pleased to announce that Ningling Wang is the president-elect of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) and will serve as the president of LESI for the 2026-2027 term. Ningling, managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office, has served on LESI’s Board of Directors and the Licensing Executives Society (LES) China Board of Directors, in addition to holding other leadership roles within LESI and LES China. “I am honored to serve the role of president-elect of LESI, working closely with LESI president, Mr. Jean-Christophe Troussel, the Board of LESI, and the leadership of LESI national societies and committees to better serve the members, increase LESI's impact, and build a stronger LESI family,” said Ningling.
With more than 20 years of experience, Ningling works with multinational and Chinese companies, providing legal advice on IP portfolio management, due diligence, licensing, litigation, and trade secret protection and enforcement. She has been involved in various cases before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. district courts. She also has represented companies with IP enforcement in China, including judicial and customs enforcement actions.
Ningling has been recognized by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) as Global Leader in patent transactions in China, as well as for patent prosecution. She was named a top IP strategist in the IAM Strategy 300 list, which identifies individuals who are leading the way in the development and implementation of strategies that maximize the value of IP portfolios. World Intellectual Property Review named Ningling as a WIPR Leader for patents in China.
LESI is an international professional association headquartered in Washington, DC, that has a history of nearly 50 years in serving business leaders and IP professionals in more than 90 countries. LESI advances the business of intellectual property globally, helping members better protect and commercialize innovation, and better manage and monetize intellectual property.
As LESI president-elect, Ningling will focus on various initiatives, including Leadership Academy, education, and continuing industrial engagement to help members do their day jobs better and engage in services to promote sustainable innovation and help innovators and businesses of all sizes successfully protect and commercialize their innovations.
Finnegan has a long-standing relationship with LESI. Finnegan founder Marc Finnegan helped found LESI and served as president of both LESI and LES USA/Canada. Former Finnegan partners Kenneth E. Payne and D. Patrick O’Reilley served as president of both LESI and LES USA/Canada. Finnegan partner John Paul served as LESI president for the 2021-2022 term.
