May 21, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC— Finnegan was once again recognized as a leading law firm in the Chambers & Partners 2024 Associate Satisfaction Survey. The firm was ranked Elite (Top 10) in four key categories: Associate Satisfaction; Career Development; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; and Retention. The firm was also recognized as an Excellent Performer in the Pro Bono category and a Strong Performer in the Benefits/Quality of life category.

Associates praised Finnegan’s robust career development opportunities and additional informal mentoring opportunities. “I’ve never been turned down when I’ve asked for a mentoring meeting. Ever,” said one associate. The firm’s collegial culture was also highly regarded, with associates saying, “I don’t feel like I’m at a firm that’s trying to weed us out,” and “You’re never looking over your shoulder for someone trying to take credit or hoard work.” Across the board, associates were highly complementary towards the firm, one noting “If you want to practice IP, Finnegan’s a great place to be.”

Finnegan’s training and development opportunities are essential to the firm’s culture and its long track record of success. With multiple training and education components, our comprehensive in-house training program - LEAP (Learn Enrich Achieve Progress) covers essential topics such as litigation, advanced legal writing, advanced patent prosecution, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) practice, advanced technical and legal research, business development, persuasive speaking, law firm economics, presentation skills, and leadership. The firm is also highly invested in recruiting diverse attorneys to the firm, with key programs such as Finnegan IP University and the Diverse Attorney Sponsorship Program helping support diverse early career and student attorneys.

Chambers researchers invite junior associates to respond to an online survey covering various aspects of law firm life, including their initial views on the firm and its competitors; their relationships with partners and clients; and the firm’s handling of diversity and pro bono. Associates are also asked about their expectations, aspirations, and exit plans.
