Finnegan Associates Honored with Young Lawyer of the Year Award

December 7, 2025

Finnegan associates Emma Ng and Meredith Boerschlein were named Young Lawyers of the Year by the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC), for their leadership in Legal Aid DC’s Making Justice Real Campaign, an initiative dedicated to ensuring all residents of the District of Columbia have access to legal representation and resources. Emma and Meredith were presented with the award at BADC’s annual banquet on December 6. As associate coordinators, the two helped lead firmwide participation and fundraising for Legal Aid DC’s 2025 effort, contributing to a record-setting campaign that strengthened access to justice for thousands of District residents.

Emma N. Ng focuses on complex patent litigation and client counseling in areas related to biotechnical and pharmaceutical innovations. She represents clients before U.S. district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, with a particular emphasis on litigating Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) cases. In addition to her practice, Emma is committed to pro bono service and has been recognized multiple times on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll for her representation of asylum seekers, including securing a grant of asylum for a client. She has also successfully represented veterans before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the Naval Discharge Review Board and has volunteered with the Election Protection Hotline.

Meredith H. Boerschlein draws on her background in biology, biotechnology, and chemistry in handling complex patent and trade secret litigation as well as patent licensing disputes in the life sciences sector. She works on litigation matters related to a variety of technologies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, and agricultural technology spaces, and has experience with cases arising from the filing of ANDA. Additionally, Meredith chairs the AIPLA Biotechnology Quarterly Call Committee, organizing quarterly presentations on patent law issues impacting the biotechnology sector. She also serves as an adjunct professor at the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, teaching a seminar on patent litigation. Meredith’s pro bono practice includes immigration law and wrongful convictions. She has been repeatedly recognized on the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll.

The Making Justice Real Campaign is a cornerstone of Legal Aid DC’s work, mobilizing the legal community to champion equal justice and empower vulnerable populations. Emma and Meredith’s commitment exemplifies Finnegan’s core values of service and advocacy, reinforcing the firm’s dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond the courtroom.
