Finnegan Achieves Mansfield 7.0 Certification Plus Status

October 4, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 4, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC— Finnegan is proud to announce that Diversity Lab, an incubator dedicated to boosting diversity and inclusion in the legal community and founder of the Mansfield Rule, has determined that the firm has achieved Mansfield 7.0 Certification Plus designation for 2023-2024. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Finnegan has proven its dedication and commitment to making significant and continued progress in creating inclusive recruiting and promotion processes that diversify our leadership ranks.

Launched in 2017, the Mansfield Rule aims to increase access and inclusivity for historically underrepresented candidates in leadership positions at law firms and legal departments alike. As part of the certification process, Finnegan committed to including at least 30 percent of lawyers and legal talent from underrepresented groups, including women, marginalized racial and ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities, when appointing and considering leadership positions and career advancement opportunities. Finnegan voluntarily provided data to Diversity Lab to illustrate our progress and the outcomes of our efforts to broaden talent pools and increase visibility of advancement processes.

While Finnegan is thrilled to receive this recognition, the firm’s commitment to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the legal field extends far beyond participation in the Mansfield Rule. Our strategy of enhancing a diverse and inclusive pipeline includes internal and external initiatives that focus on recruiting, retention, a supportive infrastructure, professional association involvement, and community relations. Finnegan has instituted or is affiliated with a number of programs that target retention, professional and business development, and promotion of our diverse colleagues. The firm works diligently and creatively to hone existing programs and develop new ones to ensure that our attorneys and administrative professionals are given a competitive edge when it makes promotional decisions.
