FedEx Wins in Attack on Courier Communications Patent

July 17, 2018

Bloomberg Law

On July 17, 2018 the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) ruled in favor of Finnegan client FedEx, by invalidating an Intellectual Ventures patent claim related to a computer database system that notifies workers in the field when work is completed or assigned. The board said the patent claim was obvious in light of the Storch and Butler patents and the decision prohibits Intellectual Ventures from filing a new case.
