DAV Presents Finnegan with Exceptional Donor Award

September 24, 2018

During its 2018 National Convention, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) presented Finnegan with the Exceptional Donor Award. The firm first received the award in 2013, in recognition of its extraordinary generosity and support of the DAV National Service Foundation. Finnegan continues to be the largest for-profit donor in the foundation’s history.

Finnegan has an extensive pro bono program dedicated to serving the needs of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. More than 75 attorneys and staff participate in the program serving disabled military veterans, which focuses on appeals in the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Volunteers review approximately 300 pre-screened Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA) decisions each year. Since the program commenced in July 2008, Finnegan has handled approximately 800 appeals, with more than 50 appeals handled in 2017.

In 2017, DAV helped attain more than $4 billion in new and retroactive benefits to care for veterans, their families, and survivors.
