Business Development Specialist

Role Overview

The Business Development Specialist is a hybrid role supporting both the Business and Client Development and Business Client Intelligence functions. The position focuses on professional experience management, attorney credentials and biographies, content development and maintenance, and proposal and pitch support. The role serves as a key resource for maintaining the firm's marketing content, experience data, and business development information that support client pursuits and firm growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

Professional Experience/Biographies and Pitch Materials

  • Develop, maintain, and update attorney profile information, including biographies, technical experience, credentials, representative matters, and related marketing content.
  • Create and maintain onboarding materials, electronic promotional files, and attorney profile records.
  • Create and maintain attorney profile records within the firm's experience management and related systems for new professionals, including translated biographies where applicable.
  • Coordinate attorney onboarding communications related to biographies, professional photos, technical experience, and website profiles.
  • Create the preliminary biography draft using firm approved tools and share with new hire professionals as starting point for their edits and refinements
  • Conduct first review of subsequent draft and coordinate BCD team second review as well as follow up with professional for final review and then posting in the firm’s experience management and related systems
  • Initiate and coordinate biography and profile updates associated with title changes and other career milestones.
  • Coordinate with onboarding team for new lateral partner outreach for pre-start date profile information and ensure records are in place for start day launch
  • Maintain attorney biography standards, building blocks, templates, and best-practice resources.
  • Provide administrative and production support for proposals, pitches, presentations, and RFP responses.
  • Assist the Proposal Analyst and Pitches & Pursuits team in gathering and coordinating attorney credentials, experience summaries, representative matters, practice information, and other content required for proposals and presentations.
  • Provide backup support for proposal and pitch-related activities during periods of high volume or team absences.
  • Maintain and update pitch-related experience summaries, attorney credentials, representative matters, and approved marketing content used in proposals and presentations.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of proposal and pitch content to ensure materials accurately reflect current attorney experience, credentials, representative matters, and firm capabilities, and identify needed updates to business development materials.
  • Maintain proposal and pitch resources, including templates, boilerplate documents, FinneWINs, experience libraries, feedback resources, and other reusable content, ensuring materials remain current, organized, and easily accessible.

Data Quality and Reporting

  • As needed, capture and maintain pitch feedback, pursuit insights, and other relevant business development intelligence within DealCloud and related knowledge resources to support future pursuits and business development opportunities.
  • Maintain the firm's professional experience management systems and related databases, including supporting data integrity, content maintenance, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Coordinate the collection, formatting, and updating of attorney legal and technical experience information, representative matters, and website case descriptions across necessary systems and platforms, including the firm’s website.
  • Conduct experience, credential, and technical experience searches and compile attorney and matter information in support of proposals, pitches, presentations, client meetings, website content, and other business development initiatives.
  • Perform quality control reviews of attorney biographies, experience records, credentials, website content, and related marketing materials to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • In collaboration with the Community & Belonging team, process DEI-related BD activities, including logging client DEI data submissions/meetings, identified/reported outcomes, documenting debriefing activities, and identifying relationships as relevant for relationship tracking. These activities could result from the CDIO’s meetings, DEI-related events, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum four years of experience in a professional business environment.
  • Dependable professional who devotes every effort to achieving the best results.
  • Strong communication, oral, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence persuasively and effectively with a collaborative orientation.
  • Detailed organization and project management skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to synthesize complex data. Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, follow-through, delegation, and negotiation skills is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content-review skills, including the ability to evaluate attorney biography and profile language for clarity, tone, consistency, and business development value.
  • Ongoing and proficient use of technology applications that are commonly deployed to organize information, schedule calls and meetings, coordinate tasks, and manage projects.
  • Able to be a self-starter and work independently as well as within cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and complete simultaneous assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding and interest in working with various technologies.
  • Experience with Windows-based word processing, database programs, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability and willingness to be a team player and to work overtime when necessary.

The role is based in our Washington, DC or Boston, MA office, and requires a hybrid/onsite work schedule. The base annual pay range for this role is between $80,000 to $95,000; in DC roughly a $41.03 to $48.72 hour equivalent; in Boston roughly $43.96 to $52.20 hourly equivalent. The base pay to be offered will vary and depend on skills and qualifications, experience, location and will also take into account internal equity. A full range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on the position will also be offered.
