Launching a product is a complex process, involving many moving parts and requiring significant resources. Coordinating these efforts is complicated, and small delays can become costly setbacks. Properly handling the intellectual property (IP) component, for example, can be the difference between a successful lift-off and a terminated countdown. But what IP issues are critical and when should they be addressed? If there is only a short time period between design freeze and launch, can thorough clearance and patentability assessments be completed? What should happen if a last-minute glitch is discovered?

Please join us as we discuss the many IP issues associated with a global product launch, lessons learned, and situations to avoid. Topics will include:

  • Timing: when to do clearance searches and undertake filings, schedule results, and delivery of the final okay
  • Prioritization: identification of IP risks, determining “mission-critical” from minor-setback, and possible mitigation actions
  • Communication: who needs to know what and when
