Patent Attorney Trainee
Hannah Whitmore, Ph.D., is a part-qualified U.K. and European patent attorney. Leveraging her background in natural products, organic chemistry and life sciences, she works with a diverse client portfolio across the chemistry, pharmaceutical and biotech spaces. Hannah has experience in patent drafting, prosecution and opinion work.
Prior to joining Finnegan, Hannah worked at a global law firm within the patent group. She prosecuted patent applications related to small molecule pharmaceuticals, medical devices, antibody-drug conjugates and plant protection before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Hannah graduated top of her class withan undergraduate masters degree in medicinal chemistry from The University of Surrey. Her studies included a professional training year at the Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology, where she researched illicit drugs and stand-off explosive detection.
After completing her doctorate in natural products and synthetic organic chemistry, Hannah conducted her postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, based at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. She investigated transcription factors involved in retinal damage in the eye, specifically within the context of diabetic eye disease. This translational work was then directly applied to the treatment of COVID-19 and lung fibrosis.
