David Nielsen focuses on intellectual property (IP) litigation, strategic patent portfolio counseling, and patent prosecution, leveraging his strong foundation in materials science and engineering. His experience spans complex legal research, client counseling, preparing office action responses, and technical analysis in support of patent disputes and portfolio development.
David’s practice benefits from hands-on technical experience gained through years in laboratory environments, where he developed and implemented testing protocols for construction materials and thin films. His background includes statistical evaluation of material performance and the creation of cost-effective technologies for in-house testing. David’s technical training extends to the study of semiconductors for photovoltaic applications, specialized insight which informs his approach to patent strategy and litigation.
While in law school, David served as executive managing editor of the Emory Law Journal. He also conducted research on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and protein sequence data. David’s published works addressed copyright protection in generative AI and the electronic transport properties of thin-film iron pyrite.
David dedicates time to advocating for pro bono clients, including petitioning public databases to remove expunged records.
