Christopher Howes focuses on all types of intellectual property protection and enforcement. He concentrates on district court litigation, including patent, trade secret, and trademark matters as well as client counseling and patent portfolio development. Christopher's technical experience extends to the field of aerospace engineering, with a focus in astronautics.
With years of litigation experience, Christopher actively participates in jury trials and handles all aspects of trial preparation from pre-litigation due diligence through trial and post-trial briefing. This includes conducting fact and expert discovery, drafting motions and briefs, and preparing witnesses.
Christopher helps clients navigate patent rights by providing strategic advice through freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses as well as opinions addressing patent validity, infringement, and other types of intellectual property issues. Additionally, Christopher has experience assisting clients in developing their patent portfolios across aerospace and aviation systems, mechanical systems, and software technologies.
Prior to attending law school, Christopher studied space systems design, space propulsion, space flight dynamics, space navigation and guidance, aerospace structures, vibration and aeroelasticity, and thermodynamics. He interned at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in the Mission Engineering and Systems Analysis division.
Christopher devotes time to pro bono matters. He has assisted with asylum representation and worked with veterans in seeking enhanced compensation for injuries received while in the military.
