In today’s fast-moving world, changing strategies can make it desirable to amend your issued patents. Your own interests, or the interests of your competitors, often change. You may learn a competitor is copying your technology, or a competitor may accuse you of copying its technology or infringing its patents. You may become aware of new information not previously considered during the prosecution of your relevant patents.
