Li Feng, Ph.D., practices all aspects of patent law, including patent litigation before U.S. district courts, post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and global patent procurement. She routinely handles matters related to a wide range of technologies, including small molecule and biologic pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biotechnology, chemicals, agricultural sciences, renewable energy, nanotechnology, cosmetics, and medical devices. Years of doctoral and industry research give Li a practical understanding of the innovation process.
Li counsels pharmaceutical companies on pre-litigation and litigation matters under the Hatch-Waxman Act and the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA). She has successfully represented clients in contentious matters in the United States and coordinated litigation and opposition strategies in other jurisdictions. Li has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, coordinating and managing non-U.S. prosecution, and developing strategies for global patent portfolio management and planning. She regularly provides legal opinions on patentability, validity, enforceability, and infringement, and conducts evaluations for due diligence and freedom to operate (FTO) assessments.
Prior to her legal career, Li conducted research in lipid cell signaling using fluorescent and radiolabeled molecular probes and was a prolific author of scientific publications. Her background in both chemistry and biology enables her to effectively communicate with clients in the life sciences sectors.
Li frequently writes and speaks about intellectual property topics. She currently co-leads Finnegan FORWARD.
