Managing Intellectual Property
Finnegan attorneys Jeffrey Jacobstein, Anna Naydonov, and Morgan Smith were named 2021 Managing Intellectual Property Rising Stars. Rising Stars are up-and-coming intellectual property practitioners in private practice who contribute to the success of their firms and clients.
Jeffrey focuses on strategic client counseling, due diligence, and post-grant proceedings, with an emphasis on biotechnology and the life sciences. His experience includes prosecuting and appealing applications within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), as well as larger portfolio management, diligence, licensing, and opinion work. Jeffrey represents clients during inter partes review (IPR) and appeal proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and in reexaminations at the USPTO. He also plans for and acquires patent term extensions for approved biologic and pharmaceutical products in the United States and abroad.
Anna is a first-chair litigator who focuses on high-stakes advertising and trademark litigation, including Lanham Act cases, class action defense, appeals, and cases before the National Advertising Division. Anna also extensively counsels some of the world’s most famous brands on claims substantiation, trademark, copyright, and right of publicity issues including on social media, influencer endorsements, sustainability, and other cutting-edge marketing law issues.
Morgan focuses on trademark and false advertising litigation. She litigates cases and manages enforcement efforts for some of the world’s most renowned brands, representing clients in a diverse range of industries, including sports equipment, apparel, food and beverage, travel, consumer electronics, personal healthcare, video games, pet products and services, automotive, and telecommunications. Morgan’s comprehensive practice includes handling federal district court cases and cancellation and opposition proceedings before the TTAB. She has worked on winning requests for injunctive relief, requests for seizures of counterfeit goods and related assets, class certification briefs, and summary judgment briefs.
