Yanfei Ru focuses on patent drafting, prosecution, and client counseling in the chemistry and biotechnology fields. She has experience with post-grant proceedings, including oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office (EPO).
Yanfei advises clients on evidence preparation, including evidence of prior use/sale and supplemental experimental reports, in various post-grant procedures. She has prosecuted hundreds of European patent applications in various technical fields, including technologies related to small molecule drugs, polymeric materials, macromolecular drugs, diagnostic kits, cosmetics, and much more. Yanfei has attended oral proceedings before the Examining Division and Opposition Division of the EPO, and she has been intensively involved in patent infringement proceedings in Germany, assisting Chinese companies as a technical and legal interpreter.
Yanfei is qualified as a European patent attorney and as a Chinese patent agent. Prior to joining Finnegan, Yanfei worked for an intellectual property law firm in Germany and was a member of the firm's China Desk. Yanfei obtained a master's degree in chemical engineering, specializing in organic materials. While earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry, she was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council to work as a visiting research assistant in Europe.
