Patent Specialist
Sam (Samuele) Fossati, a patent attorney trainee pursuing European and UK qualifications, assists clients in protecting innovations across high-tech industries. His technical knowledge spans an array of fields, including quantum computing and quantum information, astrophysics instrumentation, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Prior to joining Finnegan, Sam gained experience in the drafting and prosecution of European and UK patents at a UK law firm. There, he supported innovations in a variety of technical fields, including quantum information, information security, AI-based methods, consumer electronics, and medical devices.
Before entering the patent profession, Sam specialized in both quantum engineering and astrophysics, garnering research experience at several institutions. At Imperial College London’s Centre for Cold Matter Research, Sam assisted in developing an iterative algorithm for correcting optical aberrations in a hybrid Rydberg atom-molecule optical tweezer array, intended for quantum computation. At Nagoya University’s High Energy Astrophysics Group, Sam analysed pulsar emission data collected with the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope.
