Patent Agent
Matthew Weirich is a patent agent focusing on patent drafting and prosecution in the electrical and computer arts. He brings a controls-focused electrical engineering background that spans power and industrial systems; signal processing and radio frequency (RF); and embedded tools. Matthew also has experience related to energy, automotive, defense, and finance technologies.
Matthew’s technical foundation includes large-scale power and controls work as an intern at an American multinational oil and gas corporation. He worked on transformers and large power electronics as well as variable frequency drive (VFD) reliability improvements. While an intern at a U.S. military research laboratory, Matthew worked on relay modernization planning, and radar countermeasure hardware development. He also performed RF analysis and testing with MATLAB, universal software radio peripherals (USRPs), and spectrum analyzers.
Beyond his technical expertise, Matthew is a decorated clay target shooter and competitive golfer. He is a state, regional, and national champion multiple times over in clay target shooting at the high school level, and served as captain of the University of Maryland’s clay target team, earning numerous collegiate medals. On the golf course, Matthew is a state-level competitor with years of dynamic experience. His commitment to excellence in sport reflects the same discipline and focus he brings to patent strategy and innovation.
In pro bono matters, Matthew has supported veterans’ advocacy, including assistance with a congressional letter on behalf of a Vietnam veteran.
