Associate
Deena Kablaoui Lanier is a patent litigator who practices before U.S. district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). She has represented clients across a broad array of industries including those in chemicals, consumer electronics, financial services, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Deena is experienced in all phases of patent litigation, from pleadings to trial and post-trial proceedings. Her background includes taking and defending expert depositions; witness examination; developing technical positions; drafting pre-trial motions, pre-trial briefs, and post-trial briefs; and arguing motions at trial. Deena’s technical experience spans a wide range of subject matter, including lithium-ion battery technology, smart phone technology, power tools, fluoropolymers, wireless communications, pharmaceuticals, and glucose monitoring devices.
While in law school, Deena served as a legal intern for the Honorable Eleni M. Roumel at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. As a third-year law student, Deena served as a writing fellow at George Mason University (GMU) School of Law. In that role, she co-taught legal research, writing, and analysis in the first-year writing program.
Deena’s pro bono work includes advocating for post-conviction relief under the Second Look Amendment Act (SLAA). Deena also represented a client who successfully appealed an adverse monetary judgment for speaking out against sexual misconduct, reversing the jury decision in its entirety. Deena has been recognized on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.

Represented ZTE in a series of patent litigations in the Western District of Texas against NPE WSOU, who asserted fifteen patents directed to wireless hotspot and hand terminal communication, as well as, cellular telecommunication infrastructure technology. Finnegan filed IPRs for the asserted patents, and obtained a favorable dismissal.
