Technical Specialist
Rae's extensive cancer research training informs her work on prosecution matters in the biological space. Prior to joining Finnegan, she completed her doctoral studies at Emory University, where she identified and characterized an immunotherapeutic that can overcome immune exhaustion induced by leukemia. In her master's program, she investigated the effects of radiation treatment on the expression of co-stimulatory molecules in breast cancer. While at Emory, Rae worked at the Office of Technology Transfer as an intern, creating initial commercialization evaluation reports for technologies.
As a science educator, Rae taught as a lab professor for the Department of Biology at Emory, where she designed and implemented innovative curriculum for increasing student engagement for non-science majors with her colleagues. She also taught middle school physical science as a Teach for America Corps member.
Deeply rooted in values of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Rae has advocated for DEI throughout her educational and life's trajectory, both at the university level and in the greater Atlanta community. She served as a co-founder of the DEI committee for her doctoral program and engaged in diversity-focused initiatives and organizations, including Emory Diversifying Graduate Education (EDGE) and the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). Rae's DEI endeavors earned her the inaugural Laney Graduate School Student Award for Inclusive Excellence in the Natural Sciences at Emory University.
