Kevin Rodkey focuses his practice in the areas of post-grant review proceedings, including inter partes review (IPR); patent litigation; appeals; due diligence counseling; and transactions. He has managed or assisted in more than eighty post-grant proceedings related to a variety of electrical and mechanical technologies, representing both petitioners and patent owners.
Kevin represents plaintiffs and defendants in post-grant reviews and district court litigation. He advises clients on patent validity and infringement, licensing, strategic transactions, and due diligence investigations. His practice includes many aspects of wireless technology, cellular communications (including 4G/LTE/5G technology and standards), data processing, optical systems, mobile devices, consumer products, specialty materials, and a variety of mechanical technologies (including filtration systems, packaging, and processing). His technical background encompasses a variety of computer, electrical, and advanced materials-related technologies, including work for Georgia Tech Research Institute related to antenna transmission and measurement systems.
Prior to joining Finnegan, Kevin served as an intellectual property and licensing consultant to Pieris AG in Freising, Germany, assisting in a variety of patent-related matters, including portfolio management, transfer agreements, and patent licenses.

Represented Nestlé USA in three appeals from inter partes review (IPR) decisions by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). In two cases, the Federal Circuit vacated the PTAB decisions upholding the patentability of the challenged claims and remanded the cases. In the third case, the Federal Circuit affirmed the PTAB’s finding that the challenged claims were unpatentable.
