Leading IP Law Firm Continues Initiative to Foster Diversity within IP Bar

WASHINGTON, DC – Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the world's largest intellectual property law firms, announced today that applications for its 2011-2012 Diversity Scholarship are now being accepted.

The Finnegan Diversity Scholarship provides financial support to qualified minority students who demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a career in intellectual property law.  Paul Sevanich, the firm’s Attorney Recruitment Manager, commented, "We established the Diversity Scholarship in 2003 and have had tremendous success in awarding scholarships to law students who reflect the firm’s commitment to workforce diversity and world-class representation in the IP community.  The firm is pleased to be a leading supporter of a diverse IP bar through this scholarship."

The Scholarship award of $15,000 may be applied to costs associated with normal tuition; usual fees (such as, but not limited to, student activity fees; law school or university fees, and administrative fees); and a patent bar review course.  The scholarship recipient will also join the firm as a 2012 summer associate in one of its domestic offices (Atlanta, GA; Cambridge, MA; Palo Alto, CA; Reston, VA; or Washington, DC).

In addition to a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in intellectual property law, selection criteria include exceptional academic performance at the undergraduate, graduate (if applicable), and law school level; a degree in life sciences, engineering, or computer science, or substantial prior trademark experience; relevant work experience; community service; leadership skills; and special accomplishments.

Applications are due no later than March 1, 2011, and are available by clicking here.  They are also available through the Career Development Offices at the nation’s top law schools
