FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 8, 2024
WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan is pleased to welcome back Anna Chauvet, who is rejoining the firm as a partner to lead the firm’s copyright practice. Anna brings significant experience in tackling cutting-edge legal and policy issues, well positioning her to provide strategic counsel and advance clients’ interests on a wide range of copyright matters. She previously served as vice president of public policy at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), where she was integral to policy development and reaching consensus among members and congressional offices in the areas of artificial intelligence, music licensing, privacy, and antitrust. Prior to NAB, Anna served as associate general counsel at the U.S. Copyright Office, where she helped implement the Music Modernization Act (MMA), the most sweeping reform to copyright law in decades, by issuing regulations regarding the newly-formed mechanical licensing collective charged with administering the blanket license for musical works. She also advised on litigation strategy to inform the U.S. government’s views regarding novel questions of copyright law pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. Anna was an associate at Finnegan from 2007-2012.
“We are thrilled that Anna is returning to Finnegan,” said Erika Arner, Finnegan’s managing partner. “Anna brings a wealth of copyright experience across client advocacy and public policy, and will be a great asset to our clients.”
Outside of her legal career, Anna supports her community. She serves on the board of directors for Everybody Wins DC, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting children’s literacy, as well as on the ambassadors council for N Street Village, the largest provider of housing and supportive services for women experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C. She is also an alumna of Leadership Music, a Nashville-based program that fosters community and collaboration among music industry leaders.
