World Intellectual Property Review
WASHINGTON, DC— Finnegan partner Elizabeth Ferrill was recognized for her leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the practice of IP law in World Intellectual Property Review’s (WIPR) 2023 annual diversity issue.
Elizabeth was named a Diversity Champion by WIPR for her commitment to elevating diverse voices at Finnegan. She has been instrumental in the firm’s women’s business program, Finnegan FORWARD (Focused on Raising Women’s Advancement, Representation, and Development), and works closely with firm leadership on initiatives to provide a brighter future for practitioners at all levels.
“Elizabeth is an indispensable partner in our firmwide efforts to foster a culture of diversity and promote inclusivity in all we do,” said Scott Burwell, Finnegan’s partner-in-charge of diversity, equity, and inclusion. “She is a champion of the cause, and we are proud to honor her contributions to making IP law a more equitable field.”
Before beginning her legal career, Elizabeth served five years on active duty as a communications officer in the U.S. Air Force. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Air Force Academy Foundation, which supports the Academy’s enduring mission of developing leaders of character for the nation and providing a lifetime of service to the Long Blue Line. Elizabeth also leads Finnegan’s military veteran’s pro bono program and has represented criminal defendants in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Virginia Supreme Court. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Liam O’Grady at the E.D. of Virginia, Alexandria Division.
