Patent Agent
Prior to joining Finnegan, Yasir drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications pertaining to biomedical devices, surgical instruments, electrical engineering and circuitry applications, computer science and database applications, cybersecurity, computer vision and artificial intelligence, business methods, and machinery. While serving as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), he examined applications relating to electro-mechanical machining tools performing a variety of machining operations, such as milling, drilling, boring, turning, gear cutting, pressing, and forming as well as applications concerning axially moving and rotating tools, robotic multi-spindle machines, autonomously operating and moving machines, press brakes, and robotic tool changers in automotive and aerospace applications.
Yasir has experience with collegiate technology transfer processes. As an intellectual property analyst at Texas Tech University's Office of Technology Commercialization, he assessed the faculty's research via the writing of "Technology Assessment Reports" to analyze whether the research contained patentable and commercial prospects. The technology pertained to microfluidics, nanoscale engineering, graphene production, 3D printing technology, smart grids and transformers, wind energy technology, and petroleum exploration techniques. Yasir completed the National Institute of Health's (NIH) Advanced Studies in Technology Transfer graduate certification, wherein he delved deeply into biomedical business development and the handling of intellectual property collaborations during technology transfer.
