Winston Davis leverages his broad technical background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on semiconductor fabrication, electric vehicles (EVs), and electromechanical devices, to assist clients with patent application drafting and patent prosecution matters.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Winston worked as a manufacturing equipment engineer for a global leader in the development and manufacturing of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor power solutions and materials. He collaborated with a team responsible for the installation and qualification of the first epitaxy and surface preparation cleanroom toolsets at the world’s largest, multi-billion dollar SiC materials manufacturing facility. These toolsets are crucial in depositing thin crystalline layers on silicon wafers, which are integral for achieving optimal electrical properties prior to device fabrication.

Winston also spent time as a process engineering intern at a sensing and power management company. He developed an induction soldering process that helped safely manufacture DC-DC converters for electric vehicles. As a National Science Foundation (NSF) research assistant at the University of Delaware, Winston worked on designing an algorithm that pairs EV owners to optimal charging stations.

As an undergraduate student at Boston University, Winston was involved with projects related to developing an urban city flood detector device as well as designing a tracking solar concentrating collector to help generate carbon-free electricity.
