Thu Ton, Ph.D., is a registered U.S. patent agent whose patent prosecution practice is informed by a strong foundation in chemistry, materials science, and electrochemical technologies. She represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices, developing effective filing strategies and evaluating the patentability of emerging technologies.

Thu's technical experience centers on organic electrochemistry, catalysis, carbon utilization technologies, and materials chemistry. Prior to her legal career, Thu earned a doctorate in chemistry from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. She conducted research on the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide into value-added chemicals, optimizing synthetic methodologies and investigating reaction mechanisms through kinetic and spectroscopic studies. During her undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Thu conducted materials chemistry research, studying the influence of ligand design on metal nanoparticle formation and characterization. Additionally, she performed computational materials science research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), investigating nanoparticle-directed self-assembly in polymer thin films.
